Tour Diary- August 3-6, 2000

Pollo Del Mar embarked on a 5 show, 4 day road trip to SoCal. We love getting out of San Francisco, we love meeting new people and drinking their beer! Here are some pictures from the road. If you have photos from these shows, please send 'em so we can add to the page.

Friday afternoon we played in the parking lot of Lou's Records in Encinitas. The sun came out just as we started to play... we ran into a woman who claimed to be a former go-go dancer for the Phantom 5. Also present was Jamie Murray, who we would see a lot of over the weekend...

Friday night at The Tiki in Pacific Beach. Fun section of San Diego. The Deoras opening up for us. First time out with the current line-up and still reading of cheat sheets for a couple of tunes. Amongst other classics they played Polaris by the Insect Surfers and Hitman by Slacktone. The song they played that really stuck with me is a cover of the Wild Kingdom theme-- its a hit! We played two sets. Some drunk guy kept jumping on stage trying to sing, thanks to Jamie for pulling him off!

After a 6 hour drive from Fresno, we made it to Encinitas for a show in the parking lot of Lou's Records.

After a outrageous dinner courtesy of a loyal fan, we hooked up with The Deoras at The Tiki in the lively Pacific Beach area of San Diego.

Beer and Tolex:The Deoras

Glamorous backstage at The Tiki. Tattoo Parlor next door!

The L-shaped stage wraps around the pool table. Notice the empty Tip-jar.

Sorry we don't have a picture of the drunk guy who kept jumping on stage and trying to sing. Jeremy was sitting next to the PA and turned the mic off. Special thanks to Jamie Murray who kept pulling the guy off the stage!
