Pollo Del Mar's second CD (following 1997's "The Ocean Is Not For Cowards") finds the San Francisco band moving farther away from a surf sound. Still no need for a vocalist as a range of guitar tones color the sonic palette.

The dark and wet "Annabelle Lee" was written for Edgar Allen Poe's most famous lost love. "Cutlass Supreme" is a mixed-bean salad of 70's musical themes brought together as a soundtrack for a High School Driver's Education film. "Jonny Foo: Ninja Chiropractor" was inspired by the story of a drunken friend who was removed from First Class and re-checked as baggage on a flight to Hong Kong. "Rt. 666" combines rockabilly twang with ultra-fuzz and bongo-mania as the score for a trip down the road to hell. The female protagonist in the instrumentally-operatic "Consuela's Revenge" devours her abusive husband in a blood bath of seething rage. "Devil's Slide" is as crunchy as the wet sand of a well known nude beach just south of San Francisco.

In addition to their own compositions, the group performs a surfin' version of the Dead Kennedy's punk classic "Moon Over Marin"; a mariachi fiesta workout of Herb Alpert's "South of The Border" and a slow, groove'n'psyche take on the surf classic "Apache".
